Moses Small is living his dreams reporting TV news for NBC affiliate KGET-TV in Bakersfield, California.

living his dreams reporting TV newsOnly a month on the job, Moses has already reported on raging fires, rampant COVID infections, and severe local unemployment. The recent Emerson University graduate knows how lucky he is.

Growing up as an adopted African-American child of white parents, Moses often felt “otherness.”

“I remember being a really little kid. My parents would give me $20 for the convenience store. And then, in a couple of instances, a person working [at the store] had to check the [$20 bill], hold it up to the light. He said ‘how do you have this money? Is this even real?’”

Moses believes that his life experiences prepare him to be an effective TV news reporter who tells compelling stories about people in Bakersfield.
